On July 23, the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new El Higueral logistics, industrial and tertiary sector<\/strong>, located in V\u00e9lez-M\u00e1laga<\/strong>, next to the A-7 motorway and just a few kilometers from M\u00e1laga city. This initiative, considered strategic for the economic development of the Axarqu\u00eda<\/strong> region, includes the urban development of 121,726 m\u00b2 of land<\/strong>, with a total estimated investment of over \u20ac81 million<\/strong>, and the potential to create up to 1,000 new jobs<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The event was attended by the mayor of V\u00e9lez-M\u00e1laga, Jes\u00fas Lupi\u00e1\u00f1ez Herrera<\/strong>; the president of Sociedad Azucarera Larios<\/strong> (SALSA), Carlos Guti\u00e9rrez-Maturana-Larios Altuna<\/strong>, and members of the Compensation Board of landowners, along with representatives of the region’s economic and business community.<\/p>\n\n

Development of Productive Land Along the A-7<\/h3>\n\n

The urban project covers a total surface area of 121,726 m\u00b2<\/strong>, of which 74,425 m\u00b2<\/strong> will be allocated to buildable plots<\/strong> for industrial, logistics, and service-related activities. Another 47,301 m\u00b2<\/strong> will be assigned to public uses and facilities<\/strong>, distributed as follows: <\/p>\n\n

  • Green areas<\/strong>: 12,915 m\u00b2<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Public facilities<\/strong>: 6,675 m\u00b2<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Roads and technical services<\/strong>: 27,711 m\u00b2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    The total buildable<\/strong> area for private plots reaches 86,228 m\u00b2<\/strong>, making this one of the most ambitious developments in the province.<\/p>\n\n

    Total Investment Exceeding \u20ac81 Million<\/h3>\n\n

    The urbanization works<\/strong>, with an investment of \u20ac12,768,000<\/strong>, are expected to be completed by June 2026<\/strong>. Thanks to the application of the Andalusian Land Sustainability Promotion Law (LISTA)<\/strong>, building construction can begin in parallel<\/strong>, allowing businesses to begin operations up to two years earlier<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

    In addition to the urbanization works, an estimated \u20ac68,982,400 will be invested in building construction<\/strong>, bringing the total projected investment to \u20ac81,750,400<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

    Impact on Employment and Business Growth<\/h3>\n\n

    The project foresees the creation of 620 direct jobs<\/strong> during the construction phase:<\/p>\n\n

    • 127 jobs for urbanization works<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 493 jobs for construction<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

      Once operational, the new business area is expected to generate up to 1,000 jobs <\/strong>in the region, becoming an economic driver for the Eastern Costa del Sol<\/strong>. This development responds to the high demand for productive land<\/strong> following the full occupancy of the V\u00e9lez-M\u00e1laga Agro-food Park. <\/p>\n\n

      Boost to Local and Sustainable Economy<\/h3>\n\n

      Carlos Guti\u00e9rrez-Maturana-Larios Altuna<\/strong>, president of Sociedad Azucarera Larios<\/strong>, stated:<\/p>\n\n

      \u201cThe development of the new industrial, logistics and tertiary sector represents a clear commitment to the economic revitalization of the Axarqu\u00eda region. We are firmly convinced that El Higueral will play a decisive role in attracting investment, creating stable and quality employment, and strengthening a modern, competitive, and sustainable business network. This project is a key step in diversifying the local economy and driving a solid growth model in the medium and long term, complementing SALSA\u2019s investments in the tourism, residential, and agri-food sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

      Meanwhile, the mayor of V\u00e9lez-M\u00e1laga, Jes\u00fas Lupi\u00e1\u00f1ez Herrera<\/strong>, emphasized the strategic importance of the project:<\/p>\n\n
