Our history

Sociedad Azucarera Larios Inmobiliaria S.L. has its origins in the long business track record of the Larios family in Málaga.

In 1831, the incorporation of the company Larios Hermanos y Cia, founded by Martín Larios y Herreros, marked the start of the Larios family’s business activity in the city of Málaga. At the beginning, they created small businesses, and in the 40s they made the great leap to the sugar and textile industries, adopting the model of the English industrial revolution.

Throughout the whole of the19th century, the Larios family invested in almost all economic sectors, both industry and trade. They were founding members ofBanco de Málaga, giving it financial support to all its business activities. They participated in large enterprises such as the development of Ferrocarril Málaga-Córdoba, Compañía de Seguros and Sociedad de Vapores.

In 1890, Sociedad Azucarera Larios, S.A. was incorporated, grouping together all the sugar refineries of Málaga capital, the east coast of Málaga and Motril, with 14 sugar refineries and over 10,000 hectares of sugarcane crops. This activity ended with the sale of the last refinery in 1976. From that date, the company gradually changed its activity, focusing on real estate development on the land it owned mainly on the east coast of Málaga and which was more than 1,500 hectares.

In the early 90s, Sociedad Azucarera Larios S.A. started to use the trademark SALSA INMOBILIARIA, and from that date until now has developed more than 1,800 homes.

Adapted to the 21st century, and with a business experience of more than a hundred years, in addition to real estate development, it is also engaged in the agricultural leasing of its large pool of land.
